It gives us immense pleasure in informing you that the Research Project submission on the subject Vision Related Quality of Life of Children with Uncorrected Refractive has been judged as the best research submission by our Jury of doctors in the US. The Jury found the research to have a great degree of professionalism and scientific endeavor which was reflected in the report.

We congratulate and appreciate the excellent work done by Ms. Sheila Evangeline, MPhil student for this project.

We congratulate you and Elite school for providing such leadership for research students to excel in their work. We hope that you shall continue to encourage your students to participate in our research program.

As communicated earlier, this carries the cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (One Lac) and a citation from Luxottica.

Inter College Optometry Quiz Competition

Final year students Ms.Madhumitha S Mahadevan, Mr. Abhay D Shah and Ms. Karpagavalli participated in the inter-collegiate optometry quiz competition conducted by L. V. Prasad Eye Institute in Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, Kismatpur Hyderabad on the 4th of September 2010 is celebrating its 10th anniversary and on the occasion organized quiz competition and scientific sessions. ESO's team emerged winners among the optometry colleges participated from all over India. Kudos to the team and all those who helped them achieve!



Conferences

Optometrists and optometry students attend national and international conferences and the students and optometrists are the proud recipients of many awards.



Optometrist wins award at USI conference

Khaleemunnisa, an Optometrist at Sankara Nethralaya, presented her M.Phil work on ʺAssessment of Quality of life before and after Immunosuppressive and/or steroid therapyʺ as a poster at the recently concluded UVEITIS conference. She won the “Best Poster” award for her presentation. She was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,500.

Leading uveitis specialists from India and abroad congregated at the 9th annual meeting of the Uveitis Society of India (USI) to discuss Uveitis at great depths. Hosted from December 4‐6, 2009 by Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai, the meeting deliberated on the various challenges faced by specialists from the field.
