Vision ambassador training

Every child must have an eye examination at least once before they enter school. Early detection and management of eye problems is crucial in the young children. There are many initiatives to screen for eye problems in children both from the Government and Non Governmental Organizations.

Vision Ambassador Training is one such initiative from Elite School of Optometry, {a college run by Sankara Nethralaya in collaboration with Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani) where in volunteers will be trained by eye care professionals to do a Basic Vision Screening.

What is Basic Vision Screening?
Basic Vision Screening aim to identify
• Children with vision impairment and
• Other visible eye problems like squint, ptosis etc.

Basic Vision screening would involve the following components:
• Vision testing
• +2.00 DS lens test and
• Torch Light examination

How is Vision ambassador training carried out?
• Interested members of a company, college or school can enroll themselves for training. (Maximum of 30 members can be trained at one time)
• Training would be preceded by a brief eye care awareness session demonstrating the common eye conditions (Time 30 minutes)
• Trained members can participate as volunteers along with our team to screen children

Time required for training
• 2 hours including awareness session
